Havn sounds like a unique subscription-based SuperApp that offers members access to various Lifestyle and Hospitality services with a streamlined, coupon-free experience. By eliminating the need for vouchers or payments at the point of service, it simplifies transactions for both venues and customers, potentially saving time and money for both parties. With its focus on convenience, Havn could provide a seamless, hassle-free way to enjoy services, appealing to people who value efficiency and ease


What was the challenge?

The challenge for Havn involved creating a mobile application for iOS and Android, along with a robust design system that supports a variety of essential features:

- Onboarding: A streamlined onboarding process to introduce new users to the app’s key functionalities, ensuring a smooth entry into the platform.

- Profile Management: Users can manage personal details, preferences, and linked accounts, ensuring a personalized experience.

- Help/Feedback: A section for users to seek assistance, provide feedback, and access support resources to improve user engagement and satisfaction.

- Rewards System: A feature to incentivize continued use by offering rewards or benefits based on activity and subscriptions.

- Subscription Management: Clear and easy-to-navigate subscription flows to upgrade, renew, or manage membership options.

- Dashboard: A central hub displaying users' current activities, upcoming bookings, and relevant lifestyle and hospitality services.

- Reports: A feature for users to view usage statistics, such as service history, benefits utilized, and time or money saved.

- Rating System: Allows users to rate services, providing valuable feedback to venues and enhancing community trust.

- Payment Flow: A seamless flow for managing subscription payments, including adding payment methods, viewing billing history, and handling transactions securely.

- Easy Navigation: A bottom navigation bar was implemented to ensure quick and effortless access to key sections like the dashboard, profile, rewards, and help, enhancing the app's usability.

The design system needed to ensure consistency across these features while maintaining ease of navigation and a focus on usability, all while delivering a premium look that matches Havn's brand identity.

Competitive Analysis: Comparing Havn with DoorDash, UberEats, and Groupon

As part of the competitive analysis for Havn, key players like DoorDash, UberEats, and Groupon were evaluated to identify strengths, weaknesses, and market opportunities. DoorDash and UberEats offer convenience in food delivery with a focus on on-demand service and real-time tracking, while Groupon specializes in discounts and deals for a variety of experiences, using a voucher system. Havn differentiates itself by combining lifestyle and hospitality services in a subscription-based model, eliminating the need for vouchers or payments at the point of service, unlike Groupon. Additionally, Havn’s all-in-one platform expands beyond just food delivery, offering a broader range of experiences, which sets it apart from more niche-focused competitors like DoorDash and UberEats. The app’s streamlined approach aims to save both time and money for users and venues, creating a unique value proposition in the market.


Mapping User Flows for Enhanced Navigation and Experience

The Havn user flow was developed collaboratively by me and the team, ensuring a comprehensive and intuitive journey for users. Starting with a smooth onboarding process, users create accounts, personalize preferences, and choose a subscription plan. The team worked together to ensure seamless navigation, from login to the dashboard, which offers quick access to key features like rewards, services, and profile management. By collaborating closely, we optimized each step for efficiency and ease of use, delivering a user experience that feels both cohesive and effortless.

Onboarding Process Overview

The onboarding process for Havn was carefully crafted to ensure a smooth and welcoming introduction to the app. It begins with a series of introduction screens that highlight the key benefits of the platform, such as the subscription-based model and no need for coupons or vouchers. Users then move to account creation, where they can sign up using email, social login, or phone number. Afterward, they are prompted to personalize their preferences, tailoring the experience to their lifestyle needs. Next, users select a subscription plan and proceed with payment setup, which is designed to be quick and secure. Finally, the onboarding process concludes with a confirmation screen, followed by a welcome screenthat outlines the next steps, ensuring users are ready to explore the app’s features and services. This process was designed to be intuitive, engaging, and efficient, making it easy for users to get started with Havn.

Venue Selection and Details Overview

In Havn, users can explore and select venues using an interactive map feature, making it easy to find nearby options for lifestyle and hospitality services. By tapping on a venue’s pin, users can access detailed information, including the venue’s hours of operation, distance in kilometers, and a comprehensive menu of services or offerings. This feature enhances the user experience by providing essential details at a glance, helping users make informed decisions quickly. The map interface ensures a seamless and efficient way to discover and interact with various venues available within the app. Navigation is straightforward, with a simple layout that includes easy access to the home screen, map for venue selection, favorites, orders, and profile sections, ensuring that users can effortlessly navigate between features while enjoying a cohesive experience.

Order Process: Tracking, Reporting, and Rating

In Havn, users can easily place orders through the app by selecting services or items from their chosen venue. After an order is placed, a timeline is displayed, showing the current status of the order—from preparation to completion—so users can track the progress in real-time. If any issues arise, users have the option to report the order, ensuring concerns are addressed promptly. Once the order is fulfilled, users are prompted to provide a final rating, offering feedback on their experience with the service. This end-to-end process ensures transparency, convenience, and continuous improvement based on user input. With a focus on user satisfaction, Havn strives to create a seamless experience that encourages repeat usage and fosters loyalty among its members.


Profile Management: Personal Info, Subscriptions, Favorites, and More

In Havn, the Profile section allows users to easily manage and update their personal information, ensuring a tailored experience. Users can modify their subscription details, adjusting their plan or renewing it as needed. The Favorites feature enables users to save preferred venues for quicker access in the future. Additionally, the profile includes a Help section for accessing support and providing feedback, along with the ability to manage payment methods securely. Users can also view their history, which displays past orders, bookings, and interactions, providing a comprehensive overview of their activity within the app. This centralized profile management ensures a smooth and personalized user experience.


Subscription Management

In Havn, users have the flexibility to easily switch their subscription plans to better suit their needs and preferences. Whether they want to upgrade for more benefits or downgrade for cost savings, the process is straightforward and user-friendly. Additionally, users can choose to cancel their subscription at any time, with clear instructions provided to ensure a hassle-free experience. This feature empowers users by giving them control over their membership, allowing them to make informed decisions based on their lifestyle and usage patterns. By prioritizing user convenience, Havn fosters a positive relationship with its members while ensuring transparency in subscription management.

Design System Development: From Sketch to Implementation

The Havn design system serves as a comprehensive framework that ensures consistency and coherence across the mobile application. I created it from sketch, developing a library of reusable components, such as buttons, forms, and navigation elements, designed with a user-centered approach to enhance usability and aesthetics. The system outlines design principles, typography, color palettes, and spacing guidelines, ensuring that all visual elements align with Havn's brand identity. By promoting standardization, the design system streamlines the development process, enabling faster iterations and seamless collaboration between designers and developers. Additionally, it enhances the overall user experience by creating a familiar and intuitive interface, making it easier for users to navigate and engage with the app's various features.

Prototype

The prototype for the Havn app begins with a visually engaging Welcome Screen, featuring the app logo and a tagline, along with a prominent "Get Started" button that leads users into the onboarding process. The onboarding screensintroduce key features through swipeable cards, guiding users to create an account via email or social login, answer personalization questions, and select their desired subscription plan. Once onboarded, users arrive at the Dashboard, which includes a search bar and a segmented control for filtering options like All, Restaurants, Drinks, and Others. Here, featured venues are displayed in a card format, making it easy for users to browse. Tapping on a venue card navigates to the Venue Details screen, which presents essential information such as the venue name, hours of operation, distance, menu options, and an "Order" button. This prototype effectively outlines the user journey, focusing on intuitive navigation and seamless interactions, ensuring a cohesive experience as users engage with the app's core functionalities.

Delivery

In my work on the Havn app, I played a significant role in developing the delivery feature, focusing on creating a smooth and efficient process for users to receive their selected services. I left the company during the delivery phase of the project, so while I contributed to the design and functionality, I did not have the opportunity to see the final product in action. Despite not witnessing the final implementation, I am confident that the delivery system was designed to enhance user satisfaction and streamline the overall experience for Havn’s customers.

Final Thoughts: Reflections on the Havn App Development Experience

In reflecting on my experience working on the Havn app, I am proud of the comprehensive approach we took to create a user-friendly platform that seamlessly integrates lifestyle and hospitality services. Throughout the project, I focused on ensuring that every aspect, from the onboarding process to the delivery experience, was designed with the user in mind. While I left the company before seeing the final product, I believe that the robust design system and thoughtful features we developed lay a strong foundation for user engagement and satisfaction. This project not only reinforced my skills in UX/UI design and prototyping but also highlighted the importance of collaboration and adaptability in delivering a successful app. I am excited to see how Havn will evolve and positively impact its users as it enters the market.
